Mrs Mil and I like to catch some sunshine in early January and we've stayed at the same apartment for the past couple of years mainly due to its location, its peacefulness, apart from the sound of the ocean, and the sunset views over La Gomera. This year I took my SLR, a 50mm lens and a polariser and left all the rest of the gear behind. There were spectacular skies and sunsets although I did wish there were a few Dorset-style shingle beaches. This shot, cropped to a 16:9 format, is of the only cloudy evening with the sunset breaking through and lighting the island's coastline.
