stacks II
15 March, 2006
This is another shot of one of the chalk stacks near Old Harry Rocks on the Isle of Purbeck (just up from Studland and near Swanage, Dorset). I would normally use a ND grad filter for this type of shot as the sky was a good 2 or 3 stops lighter than the foreground. Instead I took two shots and merged both TIFFs in PS. The foreground was exposed at 1/13 sec and the sky at 1/160sec. Not certain if it works but it only took 10 mins or so in PS (i.e. at my limit for reworking images). I've tried this before using just one RAW image but the results then were quite noisy. ISO 50 certainly helped.
